The Perfect Inexpensive Red Lipstick

Red lips are so bold and classic. However, so many people are scared to wear red lips. I can understand why...they aren't applying to become Ronald McDonald. I get it. Today there are so many red lipsticks out there it can be overwhelming to pick just one. The trick is to pick one that is right for you. Different reds look better on some, due to the undertone that lipstick has.

I am going to suggest a product to start off with for those who are new to red lips. If you are already a red lip fanatic, I recommend that you try this product out. However, if you have already tried this product...thumbs up to you! Please leave a comment on your thoughts about it.

The product that I am talking about is Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick by Kate Moss in the shade 01.

Let's first talk about the amazing packaging. It's black and sleek. You can never go wrong with that. The cap has an angled cut at the top with Rimmel's logo and Kate's signature, in red, on the side. It's seriously too cute!

When you take off the cap, you will notice a scent. Personally the lipstick smells like candy, which I don't mind. To those who are sensitive to certain smells this may be an issue for you. On a brighter note, the smell does fade after you apply it.

This lipstick is so rich in color, which means a little goes a long way. Also, the color is very buildable. You can apply just a little to give your lips a tint of color or you can layer your lips and build a more dramatic lip. Either way the color is gorgeous.

The formulation of this lipstick is amazing! It it a matte lipstick, that does not dry out your lips. I can wear this lipstick on its own and my lips be fine the whole day.

You can find this product at your local drugstore for around $5. (What a great value)!

Aquaphor Healing Ointment

I have found the best lip treatment ever! If you have dry, sensitive, or ultra sensitive lips, this is the product for you. I love this product because 1. It does not have a scent or color 2. It works! It is as simple as that.

I first heard about this product from a youtuber, makeupbyrenren. She was raving about how this was her holy grail lip product. Since I was in the market for a new lip treatment I decided to try it out. I went to my local Walmart and picked up a tube. The price I paid for it was around $4-5. It is pricy compared to other lip products in the store. However, you get so much great product for the amount of money you pay. What a VALUE!

I purchased the big tube because that is all that they had to offer at that time. Now they have more travel friendly sizes! So if you are unsure about investing in a bigger size product, you can try out the smaller sizes and save some money. I wish I would have purchased the smaller size for travel purposes, but at least I can find this big tube easier in my purse!

When I first used it I fell in LOVE instantly. It was everything RenRen raved about.

The tube I purchased was a squeeze tube, similar to a tube of toothpaste. I squeeze the product onto my finger and apply it to my lips as usual. The product has the same texture and feel of petroleum jelly, but it works WAY better. I do not know about you, but when I use petroleum jelly I feel like my lips just absorb all the moisture so quick I have to reapply like crazy. (Side note: I am allergic to Carmax and hate stick lip balms because I feel I get more moisture from a "goowy" product). This product moistures the lips so perfectly. After using this product my lips are so conditioned and soft. You can also use it anywhere you have dry patches on your body. However, I only use it for my lips.

I have recommended this to my family and friends and they completely love it.

If you have tried this product or have any comments on this product please feel free to leave a comment.

My Summer Face/Foundation Routine

During the summer I tend to not wear any foundation. It gets way too hot outside and the last thing I want is the feel of heavy foundation on my face. In the summer, the main things that I always do no matter what is keep my skin moisturized and protect it using sunscreen.

Here is what I do on a daily basis…

1.       I always start my makeup with clean and moisturized skin. (It is recommended to have a moisturizer with SPF)
2.       Instead of using foundation, I use a tinted moisturizer. It feels so much lighter on your skin. I have been enjoying Jouer Luminizing Moisture Tint in the shade Bronze.
3.       I then use my concealer to cover up any imperfections on my face. Revlon PhotoReady Concealer Stick in Medium Deep is the perfect shade for me during the summer.
4.       To brighten up under my eye area, I use the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle in the shade medium.
5.       After that, I set my face VERY LIGHTLY, using a complexion brush from ELF, with a translucent powder from Physicians Formula.
6.       To give my face a little more glow, I just dust a little bit of Laura Geller Baked Blush N’ Brighten in the shade “In Honey Dipped” on my cheeks. I like to apply it with a fan brush, because the powder is really pigmented. It also gives a lighter application, which looks more natural.

That’s pretty much it. After my face is done I fill in my brows, do my eye makeup, and then lips. If you have any questions, comments, requests, or product review requests, feel free to leave them below. I am curious to hear what you do in the summer, as far as your face makeup routine goes. I would love to know about it below.
